Hathor's Symbol Bird Square
Hathor's symbol, a bird in a square. This can be used to determine whether a picture of a Goddess with the horns and solar disk is Hathor or Isis. Most times either Hathor's or Isis' symbol accompanies their pictures. Look for Hathor's symbol in the following pictures. (611k)

Representation Horus Sun Disk
Another representation of Horus was as a Sun Disk with Wings, usually flanked by a pair of Cobras. This representation was often used on top of an entrance for protection of the building. This one was over the entrance to the Temple of Horus in Edfu. (721k)
